Anson County Jail Roster Records
The official current inmate channel for Anson County Jail is the Anson County Sheriff's Office Citizen Connect Inmate Confinements portal. It is hosted by Southern Software and linked from the county jail page as Anson County Jail Booking Information. The public roster interface is visible without a login, even though a login link appears on the page. It labels the agency as Anson County Sheriff's Office and shows Sheriff Scott Howell above the inmate-confinement tools.
Use this roster for local jail custody, not for every person with an Anson County connection. Anson County Jail holds people arrested by the sheriff's office, Wadesboro Police, Polkton Police, Lilesville Police, Morven Police, Ansonville Police, NC Highway Patrol, and other agencies before release, transfer, court action, or local sentence service. NCDAC state prisons in Anson County use the state locator. Federal and ICE custody are separate. That custody split is the most common reason a name search seems to fail.
The official Anson County Jail page links users to the jail booking information channel and gives local facility context.
Use the Anson County Roster
Start with the roster when the person may still be confined at the Wadesboro jail. Exact names help, but the Anson portal also supports date, charge, and agency searches. The date tools matter because new bookings may be easier to find through admission filters than through a general current list. The research did not locate a posted update interval, so a recent arrest may require both an online check and a phone call.
- Open the Citizen Connect inmate-confinement portal for Anson County.
- Choose Current Confinements for a person believed to be in the jail now.
- Choose Admits by Date Range for a recent booking or uncertain release status.
- Keep a custom date range to 31 days or less because the portal warns users about that limit.
- Use Charges or Arresting Agency when the offense or arresting department is the better clue.
- Call the sheriff's office at 704-694-4188 or the jail administrator at 704-694-9328 if the portal fails.
Anson County Roster Search Fields
The Anson County inmate records search is not built around a simple name-only form in the captured text. Instead, the visible controls focus on current confinement, admission dates, charges, and arresting agency. The arresting-agency list is broad. It includes local town agencies and outside agencies, which helps when a person was arrested by a department other than the sheriff. That is useful in Anson County because Wadesboro, Polkton, Lilesville, Morven, Ansonville, NC Highway Patrol, and out-of-county agencies can all be part of the booking trail.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Current Confinements | Tab/filter | No | Default current custody view. Indexed text showed 80 total inmates on June 23, 2026. |

| Custom date range | Control | Conditional | Used with start and end dates. |
| Last 24 hours / Last 7 days | Preset controls | No | Useful for recent booking checks. |
| Charges | Text filter | No | Helps when the alleged offense is known. |
| Arresting Agency | Dropdown/list | No | Includes Anson, Wadesboro, Polkton, Lilesville, Morven, Ansonville, NC Highway Patrol, and many other agencies. |

What Anson County Records Show
The Anson portal's static text confirmed current inmate names, a total count, and search controls. Full profile detail is loaded with JavaScript, and automated text capture was limited. Because of that, Anson County inmate records should be described carefully. The safe local claim is that the portal identifies current confinements and supports filters by admission date, charge, and arresting agency. Booking photos, bond lines, and demographic fields may appear after a profile opens, but the research did not verify every field on every Anson profile.
| Field or Feature | What It Shows or Supports |
|---|---|
| Name | Indexed current-confinement results displayed inmate names. |
| Total inmate count | Indexed text displayed a dated roster count. |
| Custody category | Current Confinements means current jail custody, not a conviction. |
| Admission search | Date tools help locate recent bookings or admits. |
| Charge filter | Supports offense-based searching when the name is uncertain. |
| Arresting agency | Identifies the agency tied to the booking or hold. |
| Booking photo or bond | Not confirmed in static Anson capture; verify in a normal browser or ask the sheriff's office. |
Find County, State, and Federal Inmates
Current Anson County Jail records are local sheriff records. Sentenced prison records are state records. Federal and immigration records are separate from both. A person may start in the county jail after arrest, appear in court records after charges are filed, move to NCDAC after sentencing, or transfer to federal or immigration custody if another agency takes control. Each stage can leave a different public record.
| Custody Type | Where to Look | What It Covers |
|---|---|---|
| Pretrial or short local sentence | Citizen Connect Anson County roster | Current county jail confinement and recent admission filters. |
| Sentenced state prisoner | NCDAC Offender Public Information | State prison, probation, parole, inactive, and historical offender records back to 1972. |
| Federal inmate | BOP Find an Inmate | Federal inmates from 1982 to present, by name or number. |
| Immigration detainee | ICE ODLS | Immigration detainee lookup, separate from jail and NCDAC records. |
| Release notification | NC SAVAN / VINELink | Custody notification for county jail inmates, state prisoners, probationers, parolees, and registered sex offenders. |
Anson County Jail Facilities
Anson County has one local jail in the research file and two state prisons. Do not treat the state prisons as jail branches. Their records, visitation rules, mail systems, deposits, and phone services follow NCDAC rules.

Booking Process in Anson County
Anson County does not publish a detailed booking manual, but the research supports the basic process. After an arrest, the person is taken to Anson County Jail in Wadesboro. Jail staff receive the arrest paperwork, identify the person, inventory property, conduct searches, screen for medical or mental-health issues, take photographs and fingerprints as required, and enter the person into the jail-management system.
North Carolina law requires an arrested person to be taken before a magistrate without unnecessary delay. The magistrate or judge addresses probable cause paperwork and pretrial release. Domestic-violence release rules can hold a person for a judge's decision for up to 48 hours from arrest before a magistrate acts if no judge has acted. Felony first appearances have their own timing rules. After booking, the public roster may update, but the county does not publish a refresh interval.
- Booking
- Administrative entry into jail after arrest.
- Confinement
- The person is physically held in a jail or correctional facility.
- Detainer

- A pretrial-release condition set by a judicial official.
Anson County Visitation Records Limits
No official Anson County Jail visitation schedule, video-visitation vendor, phone provider, commissary vendor, deposit rule, attorney-visit schedule, or mail format was located on the county jail or sheriff pages reviewed. That absence is important. Do not rely on third-party jail pages that list unverified hours or vendors. Call the sheriff's office or jail administrator before traveling, mailing items, or sending money.
| Topic | Official Anson County Finding | Action |
|---|---|---|
| In-person visits | No schedule found in official county pages. | Call before arrival. |

| Video visitation | No official county video visit source found. | Do not assume remote video exists. |
| Mail format | No jail mail format found in county sources. | Ask jail staff for exact format. |

Anson County Booking Records Requests
The Anson County public-records page says county information not available online or not available electronically may be requested by emailing the Clerk. It also notes that special requests or copies to a specific medium may be assessed a fee. The page did not publish a booking-record-specific form, turnaround time, ID rule, or jail mugshot request fee. For criminal court records, use the NC Judicial Branch and the Clerk of Superior Court rather than the county public-records page.
For state prison records, NCDAC says its public records cover prison and community supervision, not local county or city jail records. For federal cases, use the federal court or BOP path. For immigration detention, use ICE ODLS. No official Anson County Sheriff's Office standalone mobile app was confirmed; MobilePatrol advertises public safety records generally, but Anson app-only jail lookup features were not verified in official sources.
Note: Confirm custody status with the jail before sending money, mailing property, scheduling a visit, or relying on a third-party vendor.
